What To Look Forward To:

This class is perfect for beginner knitters or knitters with some experience who have not tried knitting in the round. It will give you the chance to make a basic hat and add some of your own artistic twists!

What You Will Learn: how to read a pattern, casting on and joining stitches, basic stitch patterns, shaping the crown, and finishing techniques.

What Will Be Provided:

Hands-on instruction and supervision as you learn new skills and build confidence!

A beginner-friendly hat pattern to guide you on this new adventure.

What You Will Need to Bring:

100 grams (4oz) of worsted or bulky weight yarn that excites you! (You can bring more than 1 color)

Circular Needles in size 7 to 9 for worsted weight yarn or 9 to 11 for bulky weight yarn.

* Cashmere Goat in Camden or Heavenly Yarns in Belfast both have a great selection as well as knowledgeable staff who can help you find what you need.

Additional Notes:

If you need more time to knit and have not finished your hat by the end of this class, fret not! Bill will be at our FREE Community Art Event the following week on Sunday, October 25th from 1-3 to offer more support and guidance as you complete the finishing touches on your hat!

To complete registration for this class, please RSVP as attending, and a confirmation email will be sent to your inbox, including payment options. Thank you!

About The Artist:

Bill Huntington is the founder of Hope Spinnery and the designer of knitting patterns that are intended to inspire as much as instruct. Hope Spinnery is no longer a functioning mill, but it operated from 2004 until 2022. It sourced fiber entirely from Maine farms and turned raw wool into yarn for farms to sell and for artists to use. The mill also did custom spinning for sheep owners in Maine. Bill transitioned back to working with young children about 12 years ago and now teaches children in a K-2 classroom at Sweet Tree School in Hope. Though he does teach some fiber arts, he is a classroom teacher who loves being with young children and supporting their growth as amazing and creative beings.
